About Chris



CHRISTOPHER PEER, CPA P.C. was founded in Fountain Hills, Arizona in October, 2001. As of August 2010, the firm has a varied mix of clients and services, including, but not limited to, business planning, consulting, CFO/Controllership services, financial advice and tax compliance.

 

Prior to founding his own practice, Chris was employed by the accounting firm of Mansperger, Paterson & McMullin, PLC, a small-to medium-sized accounting firm located in Tempe, Arizona. From December, 1999 to October, 2001, he managed approximately $1,100,000 of professional services, including assurance services (audits, reviews, compilations), related accounting services and business consulting, CFO/Controllership services, and individual and corporate tax compliance.

 

Chris moved to Arizona from New York, New York in April 1999.

 

While living in New York, Chris worked for The Bank of New York and KPMG Peat Marwick. The combination of experience in private and public industry practice has proven to be a winning formula for Chris, strengthening his knowledge in the areas of technical expertise and business judgment.

 

As a Vice President with The Bank of New York, Chris held the position of Director - Financial Reporting, Tax and Compliance with the Bank’s Investment Company Service Division. Chris managed several departments tasked with the responsibility of reporting for over 4000 investment funds, including establishment of internal control policies and procedures related to all functions of the investment accounting process. Additionally, Chris was a Business Project Manager for the Bank’s Strategic Global Accounting System, a project designed to create one universal accounting system over the Bank’s numerous lines of business.


Chris was an auditor for almost seven years with KPMG Peat Marwick. KPMG Peat Marwick, one of the “Big 8” accounting firms (now “Big 4”) hired Chris right out of college, and gave him a solid business foundation upon which to build his career. Chris was exposed to over seven different industries of accounting, including Consumer Banking, Investment Banking, Manufacturing, Real Estate, Construction, Health Care and Insurance. With clients like National Westminster Bank, Bankers Trust, Smith Barney, Carter-Wallace, Revlon, Pepsi, and Singer, Chris obtained a wide spectrum of accounting but, more importantly, he acquired critical business experience. Meeting the challenges of his chosen career, Chris rose through the ranks at KPMG attaining the position of Assurance Manager. Additionally, Chris was a Career Advisor, College Campus Recruiter and National Instructor for KPMG training courses.

  

In 1987, Chris graduated from St. John’s University with an accounting degree from the College of Business Administration.

 

Chris is licensed as a CPA in the states of Arizona and New York. He is a member of the Arizona Society of CPAs and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Chris is an active member of the Four Peaks Rotary Club of Fountain Hills, Arizona and Saint Bernard’s Roman Catholic Parish in Scottsdale, Arizona. He enjoys playing golf when time allows.
